A few weeks ago, we headed to Carson’s Brewery in Evansville, IN, to work together on a new mango IPA. If you’re not familiar with our downriver friends, they’re definitely worth checking out next time you’re headed west! Founded in 2013, they have a 20 BBL system that they use to produce a pretty stellar lineup of beers, including a brown ale, an American wheat, a honey blonde, an IPA, and more. Their Red Dawn Amber Wheat even won gold at the Great American Beer Festival and silver at the World Beer Cup!
We arrived in Evansville around 7:30 AM and spent the day brewing two 20 barrel batches. The beer – called Mango Tsuami IPA – uses citra, amarillo, and comet hops. We even added real mango at the end of fermentation to give it a fruity flavor and nice color. This beer will be making appearances in Indianapolis, Elizabethtown, Louisville, and Lexington, and it’s always exciting to be able to expand our reach! The beer comes out on Saturday, August 27th, so make sure to pick it up while you can!
We even brought home some comet hops to put in a new IPA of our own. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for that, too.
Look for a new employee spotlight within the next week, but in the meantime, don’t forget about our Southern Tier tap takeover on Friday, August 26th! They’ve sent us a phenomenal lineup of beers including a 2015 vintage Mokah from their Blackwater Series, not to mention two different pub ales that are only available at their taproom in New York. We’re tapping the only kegs in Kentucky, so make sure to come out, say hi, and get your weekend off on the right foot!
